60,000 SF
SYP, a business strategy and innovation consulting organization, wanted to break the mold with the design of this 45,000 SF office space. Traditional desking was omitted in favor of flexible collaboration pods which can be reconfigured in a snap to accommodate shifting team needs. The bulk of the space is dedicated to a large café and co-working space, with a generous pantry and snack zone and swathes of comfortable seating areas. Throughout the day, the café hosts small groups collaborating in cozy booths, individuals typing away at laptops at the banquettes, and client lunches. Many uses are possible at the massive 53 foot long walnut slab table - known as the Great Table - but perhaps the most cherished is the traditional Thanksgiving potluck held for the employees every autumn.
Other amenities include offices and meeting space for sister companies Kyu Labs and IDEO, a Breathing Room for meditation or yoga, showers, locker and package rooms, a Library, a Quiet Room for heads-down work, and two Lab rooms which are large, reconfigurable spaces heavily equipped with AV to enable workshop sessions. The café is also heavily AV equipped to allow for hybrid presentations and events of all kinds.
